Ron Paul is a 10th-term Republican Representative from Texas' 14th District. He is a physician by trade, focusing on obstetrics and gynecology. He was drafted and served as a flight surgeon during the Vietnam War.
Ron Paul has earned the nickname "Dr. No" in Congress from "never voting for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution" [1] combined with his being a medical doctor.
In his 2008 campaign for the presidency, he has gained strong grassroots support from the internet, and has been able to raise top-tier amounts of money, but still places considerably lower on Gallup polls of Republican voters.
