Nancy Pelosi is the current Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. She is a proud liberal and does not consider herself to be a moderate. She has an outstanding resume of fundraising and has easily won her congressional seat after the dying incubumbent Congresswoman Sala Burton gave Pelosi her blessing to seek the seat.

Pelosi is a member of the Progressive Caucus. She has near perfect ratings from AFL-CIO, Americans for Democratic Action and Planned Parenthood. In 2003, she attempted to adopt her philosophies at the University of San Fransisco through the Center for Public Service and the Common Good.

In 2002, Nancy Pelosi defeated a more moderate Steny Hoyer to lead their party in the House.

In January 2007, Nancy Pelosi became Speaker of the House. Her leadership has blocked calls for impeachment of President Bush. She has said impeachment is "off the table" in hopes of garnishing victory in the White House for 2008.

Her leadership is greatly recognized through her "Hundred Hours" plan where she promised to make key changes to America during first one hundred hours the Democratics took control of Congress. She has also been a key voice against troop surges and finding ways to bring home our troops in Iraq.
